Starting with Baby Chicks

After the food shortage of 2020.... we decided we needed to be better prepared.  Living in the city we do, there isn't much we can do if the stores don't have food.  It's a few hours to any major city in any directions. 

While we are fairly prepared for a major food shortage, we also realize it's time to make a change.  We decided that it was time to start working on some type of food sources we could personally produce.  Over the summer my husband worked on building a chicken coop at his parents house.  They have a lot of land and allowed us to use the horse stables for the framing of the chicken coop. 

We worked on the coop on nights and weekends... and by we, I mean my husband ;)

We had a few losses along the way and ended up with 50 from our first round! 

The kids have painted the coop now and are all so proud of the progress & fun!
